Our Ceylon is a fine example of one of the world’s most popular teas. Perfectly balanced with a brisk and lively flavour, it makes a refreshing and energising cuppa any time of the day. Famed for its diverse growing areas, Sri Lanka’s climate is well suited to producing quality black teas. Our expert Tea Masters blend teas from different gardens to create this balanced loose leaf expression. We use ‘low-grown’ teas – harvested from sunny gardens below 600 metres (m) – to give the brew its colour and strength. Then we add ‘medium-grown’ teas from cooler gardens between 600 and 1,200m to give the blend its lighter, citrusier notes. The Great Taste Award judges loved it, awarding it one star and praising it for being "flavourful and pleasantly astringent". Our Loose Leaf Ceylon is a truly versatile brew. With its rich amber hue and fresh, zesty aromas, it suits the addition of a slice of lemon to bring out its zesty notes. Brewed richer, it also takes milk well, softening its briskness and emphasising its deeper flavours. To make this blend, our Tea Masters balance malty Indian Assam with brisk Ceylon and bright Kenyan teas. We use a high proportion of second flush Assam (leaves picked at the peak of their quality) to create an invigorating brew full of rich, comforting flavours. Our English Tea No.1 is a unique blend of elegant black teas with a subtle hint of bergamot. A delightfully balanced cuppa, it’s perfect for those seeking a more genteel approach to classic British tea. Our Tea Masters combine Ceylon, Kenyan and Assam teas to create this blend. They use a high proportion of Ceylon from Sri Lanka’s hilly central tea gardens, where the finest and most delicate teas come from. This gives the blend its brisk, lively quality, which we enhance with a touch of our signature bergamot flavouring. Distinctive yet delicately fragrant, our English Tea No. 1 makes a delightfully uplifting brew. Serve with a splash of milk or enjoy with lemon to bring out the tea’s citrusy notes. Green Tea Pure is our classic green tea expression. A blend of carefully-sourced quality Chinese teas, it offers the perfect balance between cleansing dried grass notes and soothing toasted flavours. Take a sip and feel both calmed and uplifted at the same time. To create this blend, our Tea Masters source fine green teas from China’s Jiangxi, Anhui and Zhejiang provinces. Known as the ‘Golden Triangle’, this area is renowned for the quality of its teas. Our Tea Masters include high quality Chun Mee in the blend – both silvery tips and leaf fannings. This tea is harvested in the early spring when it has a more delicate, sweet flavour. Chun Mee translates as ‘precious eyebrow’, a name inspired by the curled appearance of the dried tea leaves. With a slightly nuttier taste than many green teas, it brings a lovely rounded character to this blend. Infuse a bag of our Green Tea Pure in hot water and watch the colour turn a pretty golden-yellow, before breathing in the pure, energising bouquet. Green tea has been enjoyed in China for over 5,000 years and is an essential part of the nation’s culture. Unlike black tea, green tea generally isn’t allowed to oxidise, so it retains its fresh colour and grassy flavours. For this blend, the leaves are ‘fixed’ by pan-frying in large woks, a traditional technique that seals in the flavours and natural antioxidants of the tea plant. Pan-frying imparts a delicate ‘toasted’ note which makes this style of Chinese tea uniquely satisfying.
